Program Description

Offered online through the University of Georgia’s College of Engineering, the M.S. degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering with an Emphasis in Civil Engineering will immerse you in a rigorous curriculum enriched by real-world scenarios and projects spanning many areas, such as Structural and Geotechnical Engineering, Project and Construction Management and others.

Combining theoretical knowledge with practical application, this project-focused, online program ensures a comprehensive understanding of fundamental principles alongside the acquisition of essential skills vital for success in your field. One of the cornerstones of our program is the block format approach of one course every 8 weeks, including real-world, innovative studio courses involving seasoned industry professionals. These blocks build an experience that provides you with the opportunity to tackle authentic challenges faced by practicing civil engineers, fostering hands-on learning, and honing your problem-solving abilities. With an asynchronous class structure, each is designed to fit in and around busy schedules and be completed while working a full-time job, on your own time, whether that’s during the week, in the evenings, or on weekends.

Taught by the same faculty as UGA’s campus-based program, the University of Georgia’s online Master of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering with an Emphasis in Civil Engineering cultivates a collaborative environment, fostering close interaction among peers, faculty, and industry professionals from diverse backgrounds and viewpoints. Through group projects and discussions, you will broaden your perspectives and learn to harness the collective expertise of your team to achieve common objectives.

Industry professionals are actively involved in our studio courses and hail from a variety of sectors, including bridge engineering, non-destructive testing, structural modeling, and the comprehensive integration of infrastructure systems.

The online degree is conferred without any indication of its mode of study, ensuring it holds the same recognition and equivalence as the on-campus degree.

You’ll be equipped with a broad spectrum of knowledge and skills in engineering services – this foundation will empower you to address and overcome complex challenges across various infrastructure projects. You’ll emerge as a well-rounded engineer, ready to innovate and lead in the creation and preservation of tomorrow’s built environment.
