Master of Natural Resources (M.N.R.)

The University of Georgia’s fully online Master of Natural Resources (M.N.R.), offered by the Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources, is designed for professionals who want advanced training in natural resources management, conservation, and related fields, or who are looking to transition into work that extends beyond a traditional office setting. This non-thesis, terminal degree emphasizes applied learning and faculty mentorship. The program requires a minimum of 33 graduate credit hours and can be completed in as little as six semesters.

Students use the M.N.R. to build practical expertise, strengthen decision-making skills, and prepare for leadership roles across public agencies, nonprofits, consulting, and natural resource–based industries.

Graduates work across a wide range of settings where science, policy, land use, and resource stewardship intersect. Career paths often include roles in government agencies, environmental organizations, conservation groups, consulting firms, and private industry.

Online Master of Natural Resources Application Checklist

1. Application – Submit the Graduate School Admissions online.  Application fee: $75.
2. Select Campus – Online 
3. Select Degree Level – Masters
4. Select Intended Program – MNR, Natural Resources (School of Forestry and Nat Res) [MNR_NART_ONL]
5. Select Intended Term – Fall
6. Résumé or curriculum vitae – Submit online to the Graduate School.
7. Statement of Purpose – Submit a one-two page statement of purpose online to the Graduate School. The statement of intent should clarify the candidate’s relevant background, interests, and goals in relation to the program.
8. Transcripts – Submit unofficial transcripts from all institutions attended as part of the online application. Send official transcripts after you are offered admission.
9. Letters of Recommendation – Submit three letters of recommendation online to graduate school. Letters should be from individuals who can evaluate the applicant’s scholarly ability and potential for success in a graduate program
