Master of Education Curriculum and Instruction with Literacy Focus
Program Description
The Master of Education Curriculum and Instruction with Literacy Focus (M.Ed.) program is for teachers who already hold or qualify for a level four (T4) or higher Georgia teaching certificate in P5 Elementary Education, ELA 4-8, or English 6-12.
Our M.Ed. with a Literacy Focus degree program offers practicing teachers the opportunity to deepen their knowledge, add new skills, and broaden their vision as teachers and educational leaders. The program admits candidates every semester. Admission to the M.Ed. program is competitive and granted on a space-available basis.
This fully-online, 30-credit-hour master’s degree focuses on opportunities, needs, and demands, and endows graduates with a deep and varied set of pedagogical skills in the discipline of literacy learning and instruction for all content areas and grade levels, P-12.
The curriculum focuses on providing practical instruction in:
- Evaluating best practices in teaching
- Preparing experienced teachers for full participation in the profession as leaders, researchers, and master practitioners in literacy instruction
- Promoting both teacher autonomy and collaboration through inquiry, reflection, and action.
