Program Description

The online master’s degree program in criminal justice administration strengthens core leadership abilities and broadens knowledge of the strategies necessary to address rapidly emerging issues in criminal justice systems. The degree combines courses in criminal justice and criminology with principles and practices in public management.

This degree prepares candidates to: (1) Lead and manage in criminal justice systems in democratic societies, (2) Understand, analyze and synthesize research on crime and criminal justice policy, (3) Think critically to solve problems and make decisions that affect short- and long-term outcomes for the institutions you lead, (4) Articulate and apply a set of ethical principles in the criminal justice system that comports with democratic values and respect for human rights, and (5) Communicate and interact productively with a diverse and changing workforce and citizenry.

Admissions Information

A completed application includes the following: I. Submitted Online Application: Online applications must be submitted by the deadline. Paper applications are not available. II. Application fee: A nonrefundable fee of $50 is required for each application. This fee must be paid online by credit card. III. Personal Statement: A brief personal essay explaining the applicant’s interest in the program. IV. TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or IELTS (International English Language Testing Systems) Academic scores (International applicants only): International applicants are required to submit official TOEFL or IELTS academic scores. V. Two professional letters of recommendation: Letters should be submitted through the online application. VI. Upload Transcripts from each post-secondary college/university attended: Upload each transcript to the Academic History section of the online application before submitting your application or upload to your application status page under the Upload Materials section if your application has been submitted.
