Program Description

The purpose of the Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice is to prepare students for employment within the criminal justice system in the areas of municipal, state, and federal law enforcement; corrections; juvenile justice and probation, etc. by providing students with a foundation of the knowledge, principles, theories, and functions common to the American Criminal Justice system. Upon completion of the Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, students will demonstrate mastery of the essential content of the criminology core curriculum, the ability to analyze major concepts and theoretical perspectives in criminal justice critically, and an understanding of essential elements of academic and professional writing, research, scholarship, and professional and ethical values in the criminal justice field. The Criminal Justice degree program is available fully online through eMajor, a consortium of SACSCOC accredited institutions in the University System of Georgia. Top faculty from Dalton State College, Georgia Southwestern State University, and Georgia Highlands College participate in delivering the Criminal Justice program. Students can enroll part-time or full-time, and courses are available on a continuous schedule.
